WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A bomb threat disrupted downtown West Palm Beach on Monday, leading to significant road closures and evacuations. According to the West Palm Beach Police Department, a man called 911 around 8:40 a.m., stating, “There’s a bomb in your parking lot,” before abruptly ending the call.
In response, police closed the area spanning Banyan Boulevard to Clematis Street and Rosemary Avenue to Sapodilla Avenue, including the Sapodilla parking garage. Part of the police headquarters was also evacuated as a precaution.
Detectives traced the 911 call to Luke Joseph Cahill, 32, of Palm Beach County. Authorities confirmed that Cahill made the threat from a medical facility in West Palm Beach.
After several hours of investigation and bomb squad activity, no explosives were found in the area, and the closures were lifted. Authorities emphasized the seriousness of making such threats and confirmed that charges against Cahill are being pursued. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
