Saweetie is known for her creativity in the studio, but she's just as inventive in the kitchen.
Speaking with PEOPLE at the Dink n’ Drink with Corona Premier and Saweetie pickleball event in New York City on Wednesday, where she promoted the pickle juice-heavy “Corona Pickle Premier,” the rapper, 31, shared that this drink is just one of many “concoctions” she loves experimenting with.
“Corona’s a legacy brand and it’s the perfect drink for any family function,” Saweetie tells PEOPLE. “I come from a family where food is really big and important and it's how we bond with each other. And growing up with a bunch of cousins, we're always just making concoctions. So when I see a concoction, I live for it and I love to try it.”

One of her go-to creations? Ranch dressing on spaghetti. “You still use your regular spaghetti sauce,” she says, “But if you think about it, the ranch just makes the sauce creamier.”
But recently, the “Tap In” singer has added a new creation to her food repertoire. “You know what else is good too?” she says, "A hot dog with cheese and barbecue sauce and mayonnaise on it."
Whether she’s mixing up unexpected food combinations or crafting new music, Saweetie says her best ideas come when she’s multitasking. “A lot of my ideas come from when I'm driving or when I'm running,” she shares. “If I'm driving, I have to pull over sometimes and type in my notes and get the idea out. I hum into voice memos all the time. But for some reason, I write better when I'm multitasking.”

Saweetie is channeling that same creative energy into her “long overdue” debut album, finally set to drop this summer. “It’s been a long time coming, but I think that I had to go through what I learned in order to put out this type of album,” she tells PEOPLE.

After her album drops, Saweetie plans to release more music and potentially collaborate with other artists. “I like Bad Bunny. I think he's cool,” she says. “I like his music. It makes me want to dance, basically want to party. And growing up in the Bay Area, there was a lot of Latin American culture that I grew up around, so I really appreciate their music and he's one of my favorite artists.”
Reflecting on her journey, Saweetie feels more ready than ever to embrace the future. “When I first came onto the music scene, I felt like I was very guarded,” she says. “Sometimes when you're thrown out into the music industry, you don't feel like you're protected. You become kind of like a recluse. I feel like I became very guarded, but I'm ready to let my guard down and let the world into my world.”
